Meetings consist of two segments:

Critiques

Members submit short 2-page works which might be from a current work-in-progress or an exercise based on a suggested topic. Critiques by peers enable writers to learn first hand, through dialogue and observation, just how a typical reader would react to their writing style and their approach to their work.

Networking / Problem Solving

Members get acquainted with others who understand and share common challenges. This is time is spent getting better acquainted with each other and brainstorming to solve some of the stickier challenges of writing.

Special Projects

The Writer’s Workshop periodically undertakes special projects and hosts events for all writers in northeast DuPage County and surrounding areas.

Current Project
2009 Literary Calendar

Writers are preparing submissions for the 2009 Calendar. Submission deadline will be announced shortly. Calendars will be distributed at the annual Bloomingdale Public Library Open House in November.

This is one of several special projects, decided by the group members. From time to time professional speakers and/or participation in projects are arranged to allow members to showcase their work.

Because group projects are intended to further the education and enhance the visibility for writers, all are encouraged contribute. However, participation in group projects are optional.

Meetings are held at:

The Bloomingdale Public Library
101 Fairfield Way
Bloomingdale IL 60108

We will meet in the Conference Room--immediately left off the outer lobby
