I've attended many
concerts, some big and some small.
Big bands keyed
dramatically and strummed a great fall.
They took us to new
heights and down to new lows.
When they got it just
right, it shivered our toes.
Some sang about sunshine
and some about rain ...
Clouds on the horizon
... their broken heart pain ...
Loves lost long ago ...
a whirlwind romance ...
Dancing shoes sparkling,
they shared the last dance.
Quiet and mellow, soft
turned to hard,
Instruments beating a
relationship marred.
No travel companion to
share train, plane or bus,
Going home again, the
dust turned to rust.
All the great
performers, all the queen's men...
The questions all ask,
"Will you see them again?"
If the answer is "Yes",
then, you know it's been real.
Rock on, my friend, to
the king on the hill.
