Exercise - the spice of life!!

I've been getting a number of requests for information about the Senior Olympics of late so I thought I'd pass this information on to you.

The Senior Olympics has proven to be a dynamite opportunity for seniors to get acquainted while staying fit. I wrote an article some years back for a newspaper on the program. You can see it here

There are local games going on all the time throughout the country -- people locally getting ready and competing in locally to qualify for the Nationals.

To find out more about how you can get involved begin with the Seniors organizations and Park Districts in your area. You can also find helpful information at the following websites:

Endurance Sports Training Program for Women

If any of you know women's groups, listserves or individual women athletes who would be interested in this, there's more information at the link at the bottom. This organization does incredible work, and is actually winning the war on cancer through some very impressive research. There is an LLS chapter in Chicago and Des Moines for those interested. Please let me know if you put the word out - thanks! Suzan

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training, the world's largest endurance sports training program, wants to help you get ready for the first women's charity marathon, to be run in San Francisco, CA, on Oct. 24, 2004.

Whether you're a runner or a walker, want to do a full or half marathon, Team In Training will provide you with everything you'll need to go the distance, including:

  • Personalized training
  • Special training clinics
  • Supportive teammates
  • Airfare, lodging and race entry fee

In return, you'll raise money to help find cures for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.  In other words, it's a win-win for everyone.
